8th Graders Take Explore Test

8th Grade students will be taking the Explore Assessment sometime during the weeks of September 19-30.  The specific dates of the test will be shared soon.  The EXPLORE® program is designed to help eighth graders explore a broad range of options for their future. It prepares students not only for their high school coursework but for their post–high school choices as well.   The Explore includes four multiple choice tests:  English, Math, Reading and Science each 30 minutes each.  The assessment also includes information about your knowledge, skills, interests, and plans.  You can use this information as you plan your high school coursework and begin thinking about college and work.

MAP Testing For All Students

LOMS is committed to providing the best educational experience possible.  To accomplish this task, we are introducing periodic “benchmark” assessments, known as MAP tests.   The MAP test is a computer-based assessment that will be administered three times per year. While this test will not replace the traditional state-mandated testing of the past, it will allow teachers to gauge your student’s progress throughout the school year in both Math and Reading.  Since the test is computer-based, the results will be available for teachers immediately, which will allow them to assist in areas of need and see areas of student growth.  The first MAP assessment window will be in late August through September for LOMS.
