Dear HLOE Team,

 

The 2011-2012 school year started off wonderfully.  Our Back to School Bash was the best yet and our morning greeting time continues to start each day with a positive connection for each child.  This year will continue many of the successful programs and events that give students higher learning opportunities.  These include:

 

Kindergarten’s Jump Start and Kindergarten Academy

First grade’s Barnyard Bash and Christmas Mall

Second Grade’s Derby Day

Third Grade’s Frankfort Visit

Fourth Grade’s Brandon Spring’s Trip

Fifth Grade’s Washington D.C. Week

Also, our school wide College Day, Assessments Celebrations, Field Day, and with the PTO our Polar Express Christmas Festival (This Christmas Special will replace the Fall Festival and promises to provide more fun and family fellowship.)

 

Other new programs starting this year at HLOE include:

*MAP testing – this assessment will provide three benchmarks, fall, winter and spring  that teachers may use for addressing individual students’ strengths and weaknesses in reading, math and language arts,

• Keyboarding Skills instruction in third through fifth grade
• Basic Math Facts Enrichment in computer lab (K-5)
• New I-Pad Lab for classroom to rotate according to need
• Grade level Social Studies Events – Each grade will collaborate with the special area teachers to provide a time that the public shares student learning in a chosen area.  This may occur during a night performance or a day time event.

 

 

Once again providing new learning experiences in addition to our successful and proven   ones is our main goal at HLOE.  We strive to provide HIGHER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE.
